Sigh ...
There is too much happening. We have Clinton wanting to fund the troops and al-Qaeda playing to Bush stupidity and Right-wing American egos.
Al-Qaeda number two, Ayman al-Zawahri, came front and center, to comment on recently vetoed troop/withdrawal funding bill, saying: "This bill reflects American failure and frustration ... this bill will deprive us of the opportunity to destroy the American forces which we have caught in a historic trap."
OK, ego twist. Iraq id an "historic trap" which has caught everyone. Al-Qaeda is emasculated. Bin Laden has not appeared and might well be dead. Certainly Bin Laden has lost control of the situation.
Still the Bush marching orders have been issued, and we can expect he will, as he has dutifully done in the past, attempt to follow them. In this case, al-Zawahri has specified that we "only get out after losing 200,000 to 300,000 killed."
Ok, Bush will do all he can to achieve that goal for al-Qaeda; but we lost less than 60,000 in Vietnam, and after four years of this nonsense we are down less than 3,500. At this pace, we will need to remain in Iraq for another two hundred twenty-five years.
Yea, Bush has been building the permanent bases, but are we really going to play this game for as long as we have been a nation? Time for a bit of reality on the al-Qaeda side. They are incompetent.
It is self apparent that al-Qaeda lacks anything approaching the competence of the Vietnamese. These al-Qaeda guys have delusions of grandeur, they have been beaten on their own turf.
Al-Qaeda can not tell the difference between Moslems and Americans; they have killed six hundred thousand of their own.
They can not even take credit for the American wounded; we know those came about because Rummy did not have the brains necessary to provide proper armor. Rummy and Bush get the full credit for American dead.
Ayman al-Zawahri is a joke. All his a-Qaeda forces can do is kill unarmed civilian women and children doing their shopping. Even the famed 9/11 was a sneak attack on unarmed civilians; and they couldnt carry that out without the loss of ALL their forces.
As a military force, al-Qaeda are little better than kindergarten girls playing with matches. Except that the children would probably have had the sense to leave the fire scene.
What is disgusting about this whole thing? Our incompetent president doe not have the brains to accept victory and allow the Islamic jerks to argue their sectarian war over whether there have been eleven or twelve prophesied leaders since Mohammad.
Any "decider" with a brain worthy of being educated at both Harvard and Yale would decide to get out of the way.
Any "commander" worthy of the rank would know to leave the petty bickering to those jerks; a "commander" would simply lock them in to fight it out.
What is the worst that could happen? Al-Qaeda takes control of Iraq? How would they govern? What would they govern?
All they know how to do is kill unarmed women and children. One would think the husbands and fathers would get really pissed and wipe out al-Qaeda.
Where is the reality check? We have some petty thugs, without a homeland, being treated as if they are a valid nation with the right to declare war on United Nations member states.
This Homeland Security clown, Michael Chertoff, has granted them nation status. Get that, a clerk has granted the al-Qaeda mafia nation status. Since when does any government grant criminals, who are little more than mass murderers, statehood status?
OK. We are talking Bush Administration and Right-wing thinking; so what else could we expect? Certainly not intelligence.
